I’ve been driving for 2 hours now. Just me, myself & I.
Not a word has been spoken. Not from the radio, not from my phone. Not from a song or CD. Nothing.
It’s just ‘The Silence’.
News flash. The world is too noisy… Too busy… Too loud.
There’s never silence.
Sorry – hold on… BB Messenger alert, followed by a new notification on Facebook. *Buzz* – new text message. Hmmm… Twitter timeline showing new tweets.
Someone is always talking.
Hold on. New e-mail… “What you up to tonight?”
That’s what I get for not responding to the text message…
So I decide to shut off everything. That’s when ‘The Silence’ comes.
The Silence is peace. It’s refreshment. It’s thought -provoking.
I love this story of Elijah in the Bible.
Then he was told, “Go, stand on the mountain at attention before God. God will pass by.
“A hurricane wind ripped through the mountains and shattered the rocks, but God wasn’t to be found in the wind; after the wind an earthquake, but God wasn’t in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but God wasn’t in the fire; and after the fire a gentle and quiet whisper.”
The Silence brings clarity. It brings direction and understanding. The Silence brings the gentle and quiet whisper.
Silence itself is a beautiful paradox.
Because. Nobody is talking. But I’m intently listening.
